Childhood Story
Just like every other kid in the world, my parents are the most important thing in my life. They are so important because they are always there when I need help and are always willing to give some wise words of advice. It's when they aren't around, is when I realize how much I miss them and need them. When I was around the age of 10 my parents left me and my brother home alone for a couple of days because they had to be somewhere. It was in those couple of days when I realized how young I really was and how much more I had to learn before I was ready to live on my own. I couldnt handle the responsibility of taking care of myself, my brother, and the house all by myself. Once my parents were back in control I started to learn from them because it won't be long until im out of the house and starting my own life and hopefully everything they taught me will make my life that much easier.

Jacob -- I feel your pain, being the oldest sibling myself. I have also been left alone when my parents were away on business or something and I had to look after my two little brothers. And you're right -- when your parents return it is like a weight lifted off your shoulders, not having to keep track of everything -- living the free life of a kid.
ReplyDeleteThat's kinda scary, as far as how young you were. I definitely feel the need of your parents. It's weird to think that they had lives before us, and we are just an addition to them. Whereas, they are our everything and we depend on them for so much.
ReplyDeleteI totally remember feeling like that! I remember thinking that I'd be totally fine with staying home alone on days off of school... but then when those days actually rolled around, I was terrified. Everything seemed louder and I was constantly checking the doors and windows, waiting for my parents to finally come home. Nice, thoughtful reflection Jacob!
